Crème Brûlée

What is Crème Brûlée?

- This Parisian delicacy is one of the tastiest and most satisfying treats I’ve ever tasted. Having learned of how easy they are to make, I just knew I had to try it for myself. Now I’d like to share with you all!

Tools Needed:

  • Kitchen torch

  • Whisk

  • Oven (325 degrees)

Recipe:

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream

  • 1 & 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean

  • 6 egg yolks

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Steps:

  1. Start by adding the whipped cream and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract to a pot and bring to stove on medium heat until the edges begin to bubble (do not overheat!)

  2. in a mixing bowl, whisk the sugar, egg yolk and 1 & 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract until smooth & creamy.

  3. Once the whipped cream has finished heating, slowly add to the bowl with the egg yolk mixture little by little while stirring to avoid egg curdling.

  4. Once all the cream has been add, keep whisking until smooth.

  5. Prep your brûlée ramekins by placing them in a long baking dish and filling hot water halfway up the sides of the ramekins.

  6. Pour the crème mixtures in each ramekin without overfilling them and bake in preheated over (325) for about 30-40 minutes.

  7. ‘After baking, let cool and place in fridge to chill for minimum 2 hours and max 2 days.

Brulee Process:

  1. Add about a tablespoon of sugar across the top of whichever crème brûlée you plan on immediately eating (leaving sugar on will cause it to absorb into crème and ruining it.

  2. After adding sugar, use the kitchen torch to carmelize the sugar without burning and let sit for about 5 minutes.

  3. Lastly, Enjoy!!
